Jeder, der die Staffel \u00a0LONG WAY ROUND<\/a><\/em><\/strong> mit Ewan McGregor und Charley\u00a0Boorman kennt, der wei\u00df wovon ich jetzt spreche. Das Abenteuer pur…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Eine Reise<\/strong> von der Mongolei<\/strong> durch Russland<\/strong> in den sibirischen Teil des\u00a0Landes<\/strong>. Genauer gesagt von Ulan Bator<\/a> nach Magadan<\/a>. SWT-SPORTS<\/a><\/strong> hei\u00dft in diesem Fall \u00a0J\u00f6rg Schnabel<\/a><\/strong> und Manuel Schad<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

J\u00f6rg, der bei fast allen EnduroBoxer Touren<\/strong><\/a> mit dem ehemaligen Europameister Simo Kirssi<\/strong> dabei war, ist der Initiator der Unternehmung. Da J\u00f6rg<\/a> keine Lust hat, diese Reise alleine zu unternehmen, hat er einfach mal unverbindlich in\u00a0\u00dcchtelhausen<\/strong> angefragt. Und wie ihr mich kennt, kann ich ihn doch nicht\u00a0allein losschicken.<\/p>\n

Was wird uns auf dieser Reise alles erwarten? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Wie\u00a0plant man einen solchen Trip? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Diese Fragen haben wir uns nat\u00fcrlich auch\u00a0gestellt. Erstmal muss man sich \u00fcber die Route klar sein. In Ulan Bator<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>werden wir landen und unsere Bikes, die mit der Spedition die Reise\u00a0angetreten sind, zusammenstecken. Dann tanken, etwas Proviant besorgen und die Richtung Norden\u00a0einschlagen.<\/p>\n

Norden bedeutet in diesem Fall auf zur BAM \u00a0\u201eBaikal-Amur-Magistrale\u201c<\/a> \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Diese Stra\u00dfe wurde nur f\u00fcr den Bau der Eisenbahnstrecke \u2013 die Transsibirische Eisenbahn \u2013 gebaut. Die BAM<\/strong> schaut auf den ersten Bildern noch recht fahrbar aus. Wenn es dann mehr gen Norden geht, dann wird die Sache knackiger.\u00a0Auf der Road of Bones<\/a><\/strong> liegt der Anspruch schon deutlich h\u00f6her und die Sibirien Old Summer Road<\/strong> toppt dann das Ganze. Soweit k\u00f6nnen wir im Moment gar nicht denken. Wie lange wir geplant haben? Naja, fast 6000 km Sibirien<\/strong> und das nur im Off-Road<\/strong> bereich, da ist die Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit nicht so hoch.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wir haben trotzdem nur 14 Tage<\/strong> angesetzt und hoffen, dass es klappt! Unterst\u00fctzt werden wir bei dieser Extremtour von Walter Colebatch<\/a> \u00a0und Lyndon Poskitt<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Diese Jungs haben uns ihre Routenplanung und einige Videos zur Verf\u00fcgung gestellt. Anhand dieser werden wir die Ausarbeitung durchf\u00fchren. \u00a0Sobald\u00a0wir in Magadan<\/strong> angekommen sind, versuchen wir mit der Eisenbahn zur\u00fcck\u00a0nach Westen zu gelangen. Das Zwischenziel ist Moskau<\/strong>, von hier aus\u00a0kennen wir einige Routen, die uns am Ende nach insgesamt 9000<\/strong> Km zur\u00fcck nach Deutschland f\u00fchren.<\/p>\n

Road of Bones \u2013 June 2018 (EN)<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The M56 highway<\/a> from Magadan to Yakutsk<\/strong> is better known as the Road of Bones<\/strong>. Made even more famous by the TV series \u201cThe Long Way Round\u201d<\/a><\/strong> featuring Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, the road leads from Mongolia, through Russia, to the Siberian<\/strong> part of the country. It was originally built by political prisoners exiled there by the Stalin regime between the 1930\u2019s and 1953.Thousands of prisoners died building this road, and in the mines and lumber industry that were opened up as a result of its existence. It is claimed that many of those who died building the road were simply buried in the foundations, hence the name \u201cRoad of Bones\u201d. It is a route feared by many . . .<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But not us.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Our venture is the brainchild of J\u00f6rg Schnabel<\/strong>. J\u00f6rg is a seasoned rider, having participated in almost all EnduroBoxer tours <\/strong>with former European Champion Simo Kirssi<\/em><\/strong>, but still, J\u00f6rg did not want to embark upon this journey alone.<\/p>\n

Those of you who know me know that I could not send him off on his own. There was no way I would reject such a opportunity to experience a trip like this; much less give J\u00f6rg bragging rights.<\/p>\n

What will await us on this journey? <\/strong><\/p>\n

How will we go about planning such a trip? <\/strong><\/p>\n

First, you need to be clear about the route. We plan to land in and assemble our bikes, which will be sent on their journey by a shipping company based in Germany<\/strong>. Then top up fuel, basic groceries, and head north.<\/p>\n

North, in this case, means heading towards the<\/p>\n

BAM „Baikal-Amur Mainline“<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This road was built specially for the construction of the railway line \u2013 the Trans-Siberian Railway<\/strong>.\u00a0The BAM still looks traversable; however, things get trickier the further north you go. The going is already far more difficult on the Road of Bones<\/a><\/strong>, second only to the Siberian Old Summer Road<\/strong>. We could bog ourselves down with thoughts of how difficult it might be and what trials we might face, but we prefer to look at this as an opportunity to test our logical thinking and our zest or adventure.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

At almost 6000 km through Siberia<\/strong>, all of it off-road, the average speed will not really be high. Nevertheless, we know there will be times when we encounter setbacks, and as such, we have allowed contingency time in our planning. Not too much, though. By our estimations, the journey should take us around fourteen days.<\/p>\n

Walter Colebatch<\/a> and Lyndon Poskitt<\/a> assisted us<\/strong> during our planning of this extreme tour. Their comprehensive guidance and great support in terms of their route plans and videos, which we will use to prepare ourselves, have been an invaluable asset<\/strong> in helping us make this dream<\/strong> of ours become a reality.<\/p>\n

Once we arrive in Magadan<\/strong> we will attempt to head back west by rail. We intend to stop over in Moscow<\/strong>, drop off the bikes, and ride towards St. Petersburg<\/strong>, following a route that will ultimately lead us back to Germany<\/strong>. And after a total of 9000 km<\/strong> on the road, we\u2019re expecting little more than a cold beer and a comfortable bed at the finish line!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The journey is planned for mid-June 2018<\/strong>. Our chariots of choice are … ??? more on this topioc later on in one of the follow up posts! On our journey, we will sleep mostly in tents and other fairly basic forms of accommodation, and the whole tour will take place without an escort vehicle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
